BOXYCHARM August 2018 Unboxing and Review

BOXYCHARM August 2018 Unboxing and Review

Boxycharm is a $21 USD/$34.19 CAD ($21 USD+$5 USD for shipping to Canada) monthly subscription service, where you will receive 4 to 5 full size beauty items. They range from makeup, to skincare to beauty tools. The minimum value of each box is $100 USD.

The theme of August’s Boxycharm is Life of the Party, and it came with 6 products. In this month’s Boxycharm I received the following items:

Adesse New York – Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil ($18 USD/$23.67 CAD retail) Treat yourself, your nails, and your cuticles. This light weight, non-greasy oil is formulated with Vitamin E, Shea, Sweet Almond, and Jojoba Oils that are blended together to create a luxurious treatment that softens the cuticles, moisturizes and hydrates the nails.

This cuticle oil smells like vanilla and has helped my nails with dryness and brittleness. Although I love this oil, it truly doesn’t seem different than all of my other cuticle products, and I would have much rather preferred a makeup item over a nail item.

Bang Beauty – Chocolate Eyeliner ($22 USD/$28.92 CAD retail) Use it as an eyeliner, eyeshadow base, or even to touch-up your brows, this creamy, chocolate toned pomade is the ultimate triple threat.

I typically wear black for my eyeliner, and this cream is too dark for my brows, so I didn’t find much use for this. It is long wearing and I do like that it goes on smoothly. Overall I enjoyed this product.

House of Lashes – Bambie ($12 USD/$15.78 CAD retail) Add length and dimension to your makeup look with your favorite new lashes. Cruelty-free, high quality, and long lasting, these lashes provide up to 15 wears and will be the talk of every party!

I don’t wear fake lashes, and this style seemed quite extreme to some of the more natural options available from House of Lashes. I will be giving this away as a gift to someone who can use them.

Laura Lee Los Angeles - Party Animal Palette ($19 USD/$24.98 CAD retail) Dare to be the life of the party with Laura Lee Los Angeles Party Animal Palette. These six stunning shades create bold, colorful looks leaving you ready for a night of fun!

The colors are pigmented and really beautiful, especially the one shimmery purple in the palette. I am a neutral fan and therefore most likely wouldn’t wear anything from this palette aside the one shade.

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in So Strong ($24 USD/$31.55 CAD retail) This pigment-loaded color glides on in just one swipe, getting you out the door and into the party quicker!

I got a very dark color that did not suit my skin tone, and therefore I wouldn’t use this product again. I wish I had received a pink or a nude as I would like that far more than a vampy dark lipstick.

Wander Beauty – Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks ($13 USD/$17.09 CAD retail) These gold foil undereye masks brighten, hydrate and reduce the appearance of dark circles. The hyaluronic acid diminishes the appearance of wrinkles, while aloe leaf extracts and lavender oil cool and sooth your undereye area.

I think that these truly do reduce dark eye circles and hydrate the eye area. I love putting these in the fridge and then leaving them under my eyes for about 15 minutes. It is like an at home spa experience. Love them!

Total Value: $108 USD/$141.96 CAD

###Final thoughts This month’s Boxycharm was more of a miss than a hit for me. The only item that I truly found to be useful was the Wander Beauty eye masks. It is difficult to tailor individuals boxes and therefore when being subscribed to a monthly service I am fully aware that sometimes I will get products that I can’t or won’t use. For the price point of less than $6 an item, I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to try these out. I am looking forward to getting my hands on the BoxyLuxe in September 2018, and seeing what’s inside!
