Jeffree Star Cosmetics Cremated Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches

Jeffree Star Cosmetics has released a smokey eye lover’s perfect palette, the Jeffree Star Cremated palette! This beauty comes with 24 eye shadows, each at 1.50 g that range from 15 mattes, and 9 metallics of which encompass both duo chrome and Jeffree’s infamous “extreme wet” finishes. The palette’s color story consists of shades in the cool toned family, including whites, greys, and blacks, with a few brown tones.

This palette is $58 USD (before tax) which works out to about $2.42 per shade. This price point is very comparable to other brands such as Too Faced. In terms of a drugstore comparison, the Milani 15 pan eyeshadows is around $20 USD, which works out to $1.33 per shade. However each pan is only 0.57 g versus the 1.5 g that we are getting in the Cremated palette. It is also important to mention that the actual pan sizes on this palette are large, which make it easy to swirl your brush into the pan and use it comfortably.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Cremated Eyeshadow Palette Review Inside

Jeffree’s incorporation of brown in the shade range was a great idea, as it was nice to have a transition shade in this palette, and have the option to go for a nude look versus just a smokey eye. The placement of the shadows is also a contributing factor to the enjoyment of this palette. I like that the palette starts out light and gradually works its way to the darker shades to create a gradient. This is not only appealing to the eye, but also lets the user go from each row to the next, as a step by step to creating a smokey eye.

The use of several different hues of grey and white, would most likely allow many different skin tones to be able to enjoy this palette. As one can see from the color story however many shades tend to look similar on the eye. For instance when I applied “Burial Gown” and “Casket Ready”, or “Embalmed” and “Life Insurance” the different between the 2 whites, or 2 greys wasn’t noticeable. It would have been nice if some of the closer shades in color were replaced with different shades or more metallics. I had fun putting together tons of looks with this palette, and if you love the cool toned, smokey shades then this palette will serve as a wonderful addition to your collection.

Swatches

The quality of Cremated truly speaks for itself, as you may notice on the swatches. The mattes blend out very easily, while being super pigmented and long lasting. The metallics have a beautiful shine to them, and go on smoothly without fall out. In fact, shades such as “Last Look” have a gorgeous foil to them. I found that the sheerer shades such as “Diamond Ashes” and “Pallbearer” served well as shadow toppers, and added a hint of glitter to the final eye look. This formula in particular is not my favorite as I enjoy Jeffree’s more metallic and pigmented shades.

Final thoughts

Overall, I would recommend this palette to anyone who loves their cool toned, smokey shades. This is my first Jeffree Star palette, and I must say that I am impressed. Although I enjoy metallics and typically gravitate towards those versus the mattes, I found myself creating some beautiful matte looks, as they are so easy to work with. I had no issues with patchiness, or difficulty blending any of the eyeshadows. They are pigmented, and have little to no fall out, which works well for those of us that love to apply our foundation before our eyeshadow! One of my favorite things about this palette is the size of the pans. I tend to enjoy digging into the shadows without worrying that I am making a big mess, and affecting the neighboring shades. In the future I will be purchasing more products from Jeffree Star Cosmetics as this palette was a pleasure to use.
